2009 Success Stories
I adopted Otis (formerly Ronan) when he was only 4.5 lbs. back in May. He was the runt of Fiona’s litter. I fell immediately in love with that poor little thing. He is now a 11 lb. and absolutely the most lovable and crazy dog ever. I am so glad I saw him on the ACR web site and am even happier I went to see him. I took him home that day and couldn’t be happier. He keeps me laughing every day. He’s spoiled but he loves his new family! He has made good friends with my 8 year old boxer, Max, and they have now pretty much become inseparable. Thank you ACR and thank you to Jenny for being a great foster Mom.
It has been about a year that Kona (previously known as Ruby) has joined my family. She makes all of us smile with her youthful ways. She loves Katy, our mini Aussie mix, as well as our other two dogs and cat. They play all the time together. She realized that she loves to dress up in her GA Dawgs costume and root for her favorite team as well as go camping out at Watson Mill Bridge Park. She just gives me and her family so much joy and love. I am so thankful that she has come into our lives.Thank you all for all that you do and to Stacy for taking such good care of her before she came to us.
We wanted to say thank you all so much for all you do. We met and adopted our dog Del Rey the end of July. We have 3 boys and lots of “extra” kids stop by our house daily. Our dog is loved by everyone! He walks the kids to the bus stop each morning and says good bye to all of them. At the end of each day, he “tucks them in” by visiting each of them in their rooms and hopping up on the bed to lay with them for a bit. Del Rey is sweet, affectionate, and trustworthy. He’s also a great walking buddy (he is keeping my husband and I in shape). We also want to say thank you to Will, his foster dad, for raising such a great dog. He did an incredible job with him. We just can’t imagine our life without our fourth boy, Del Rey.
I met and adopted Ferguson on May 2nd, 2009. After searching for the right one for 6 months, I truly believe he was meant to be my dog. He is my little gladiator and I love him to pieces! I cannot thank Jenny Manders enough for fostering him, his mommy, Fionna and all his brothers and sisters.
I adopted Kaya about a month ago and couldn’t be happier! She is a GREAT dog and my three roommates and I have thoroughly enjoyed having her around. She is such a little cuddler and the sweetest little girl ever. I honestly couldn’t have found a better dog!
Maddy previously known as Prudence, has touched our lives more than we will ever know. She came into our family and fit right in! We have a golden retriever and a cat, that are all three joined at the hip, believe it our not. She has gone through so much, and has turned into a great little girl. I cannot imagine our lives without her.
I have meant to send pics of Roxie many times to you guys. Her original name was Charlotte. We love her and have truely enjoyed adding her to our family. Thanks for all the work you guys do.
Moe (formerly known as Harold), left in photo, was adopted in April ’09. While searching for a companion for Max, our first beagle rescue, we found Moe on your ACR web page. Though we are still working on shyness issues, things have been great since day one in our home. Max and Moe are best friends, and inseparable. We are appreciative to ATHENS CANINE RESCUE, and especially Leslie & Dan Trier with their rascals: Leon, Norman and Gus. Their caring home fostering was pivotal to link Moe to us. Most of all, we thank all of you for “saving” Moe, to become a permanent member of our family.
“Just had a bath…life is rough here on this king size bed!” Thanks Kim for bringing Dottie into our lives…she has brought so much joy back to us in the last 12 days! My girls adore her just as she does them!
I adopted Cleo (formerly Raisin) just about a year ago from ACR right around when my brother adopted his dog, Kooper. Little did we know that both our family golden retrievers would die this year when my brother and I moved back home. Cleo has been such a joy to me and my family and has kept the family lively after the loss of our other dogs. She is still adjusting to meeting new people, but she quickly warms up to almost anyone. She has a need for speed and spends a decent bit of time chasing her tail in furious circles. Our family games of Bocci ball usually involve a little help from Cleo moving any ball she can around the yard, but it couldn’t be more fun! I am so happy I adopted from ACR and would recommend them to anyone. Thanks for a great companion!
I want to thank ACR for bringing Sophie and Mowgli into my life. These two wonderful dogs are everything to me – my roomates, my friends and my protectors. There have been countless times where I have been so thankful to have them with me and I feel blessed to be their mom. I could spend all day just watching them play and I’d be thoroughly entertained. They have an amazing way of lifting me up after a bad day and making me smile. Not a day goes by where they don’t make me laugh – whether it be Sophie barking in her sleep or Mowgli being a spastic teenager. I love them both with all my heart and couldn’t imagine my life without them. Thanks ACR!!!
