Gina and Penny

In April 2010, Gina stole our hearts and joined our family!  When I first started looking for a dog, I wanted to find a dog that could be a running companion for my daughter.  After meeting Gina, I knew that she was the dog for our family.  Gina is an absolute gem of a dog…sweet and friendly, yet strong and protective.  In the time that we have had Gina, she has gone trick-or-treating dressed as a skeleton and as a bat, competed in and won  2 one mile races, competed in a 5K race, hunted Easter eggs, entered numerous costume contests, and supplied our family with 1,000 laughs and kisses! Thanks to ACR for raising such a wonderful dog!

One ACR dog just wasn’t enough for my family!  In 2011, we decided that we needed another dog.  While adopting Gina in 2010, we met her littermate Penny.  At the time, we were looking for a dog that could run with my daughter and Gina was the girl we chose.  One year later, we decided that we needed to add another dog to our house and I started browsing the ACR website and meeting their dogs at the adoption days.  This time we were looking for a companion dog; a dog who would enjoy playing with Gina and chilling around the house with us.  I remembered Penny with her pretty brindle coat from our first search and decided to have her come and visit in our home to see how she and Gina would get along.  The “sisters” were great together!  Playful and tolerant Penny is the perfect companion for Gina and our family.  Together, the girls are perfect.  Having two ACR dogs in our family has just doubled the fun!  Gina and Penny add joy to our lives every day as they join us for car rides, walks, and snuggles.  Thanks again to ACR for raising two such fabulous dogs!

Skip

Skip moved into our home and our hearts Labor Day weekend in 2011 and quickly became a treasured member of our family. He is a funny little dog with a quirky personality. His main objective in life is to play and love his family and then to play some more. He has a basket of toys that are well used every day. When he is not chasing his toys around the house he can be found either in his snuggly bed or next to one of us for a quick nap. We knew he was so cute when we apdopted him but now that his coat is growing out we are seeing what a truly beautiful dog he is. Skip loves to ride in the car and the words “let’s go!” brings just pure joy. Our house was bustling with friends and family during Christmas and Skip loved all of the activity and especially all of the attention that was poured on him. We are looking forward to many years of love with this great little dog. Many thanks to ACR for the great work you do on helping great dogs find great forever families!

Maeby

I had been looking for Maeby for a long time. I think that she was in search of me as well. We just didn’t know it at the time. I saw her picture posted on the ACR website and my heart skipped a beat. I knew that she was the one that I had been waiting for. I now realize that the reason that I never found her before was because the timing wasn’t right. I was going through a painful divorce when I saw her picture. When I read her profile and saw that she had been treated for heartworms, I knew we had something in common, Hurt heart issues! She’s such an inspiration and I am so happy that she was my partner in the healing process. She helped get me out of the house for long walks, she put her head in my lap when I thought I was going to break down. She made me laugh out loud at the silly things she would do…and still does! She is my furry angel.

I foster several cats and have some of my own. Maeby LOVES them all. They adore her as well! When the cats see her, they run up to her and rub up against her. They nap and play together as if they were always family. She doesn’t even mind when the new foster kitten decides to play with her tail. She is great with my two young children as well. My 6 year old loves to read to her and tries her best to go to sleep in the dog bed with her. Maeby has the most gentle and loving spirit of any dog that I have ever known. We are SO blessed to have her in our family. I am looking forward to my ‘new life’ with Maeby by my side.
