Bagheera – Adopted!!!
born ~ February 2014
~ 60 lbs.
If someone told you that a dog available for adoption was crate trained and house trained, knew basic commands like how to sit, lay down, shake, and stay, was lazy and required only a few short walks for exercise, loved to snuggle, and was absolutely impeccably well mannered to children, what would you say? Surely that dog would be adopted quickly, right? As of the beginning of February, Bagheera has been with ACR for one year and ALL of those things describe her! One whole year this sweet girl has been looking for her forever family with us. Add in her time spent at animal control and she is quickly approaching one and a half years actually. Everyone she has met or lived with says she is absolutely the sweetest dog ever and she was a staff and volunteer favorite while at the shelter. Bagheera does need to be in a pet free home, so we understand this means it will be a little harder to find her perfect family, but we know she is absolutely worth it and we need your help sharing her story far and wide so we can finally find her a home.
Bagheera loves her toys and short walks around the neighborhood, she totally doesn’t mind dressing up or getting hugs, and if you just want to sit on the couch, drink wine, and binge watch your favorite TV show after work, Bagheera is there!! Bagheera loves the water so if you want to take weekend trips to the beach or lake or even the creek out in the local park, she will happily splash along by your side! Basically any amount of time spent with her people is the best day ever. She loves her people unconditionally and will always be there for you to make your day better!
Are you Bagheera’s family?
Bagheera is a true black beauty AND she’s housebroken! This Lab/Staffy mix weighs about 60 pounds but would gladly put on more if given the chance! Here is what she has to say:
“Hi there!! My name is Bagheera (yes, like the panther in Jungle Book)! I have just met you but I already love you! My foster mom says that makes me a terrible watch dog, but can you blame me? You’re awesome! Do you want to see my toys?? I love to play! Tugs or fetch are both great!
No? Ok, then I will chew on my bone for a minute and take a nap, preferably on something soft like the couch or a pillow in my crate (as long as you are close by). Wait, did you grab the leash? Yes! I would love to go for a walk! I like to smell everything, so I don’t usually like to run (but I will if you REALLY want to). I am great about not chasing squirrels when we walk, even though I really want to.
I love treats, food is my favorite thing (other than you of course). I will even sit and look at you when we are on a walk for a cookie. I will even stop trying to chase that cat that just ran away. I really love to meet cats and dogs but I am very sensitive to how they are feeling. So if they are upset then so am I, but if they are friendly then we will get along!
Oh! You sat down! Perfect, now I can sit on your lap. If I sits, I fits!”
Bagheera is a super sweet gal and has been working hard on her training. She currently gets the run of the house at her foster home and lets herself outside to potty by using the doggy door. She is a pretty lazy dog but does enjoy her morning walks. She isn’t the in-your-face-needy type, but she does want to be able to see her humans, so she follows Foster Mom around the house to make sure she isn’t getting into any trouble. Netflix & Chill is a great past time for Bagheera and all she wants is to be in a home where she is welcomed and loved!
