Darla – Adopted!!!
born ~ July 2016
~ 35 lbs.
good with cats!
Meet Darla! Darla is a young Staffordshire/American Bulldog mix and is currently at 35lbs. Once she is full grown, she will probably be in the low 50’s. Darling Darla loves playing with other dogs and even gets along with the resident cat!
When Darla first met her feline roommate, she sniffed and got close, but then became more interested in her toys. When around children, she is very playful and sweet and doesn’t get overly energetic. Play bowing and giving kisses is her preferred method of fun! When other dogs are around, she is very playful from the get-go! Structured introductions aren’t necessary and she would make for a great dog park dog! Trotting right up to new people and dogs shows how confident this little lady is. Cuddling and kisses are sure to follow when presented the opportunity, but she also respects personal space if told ‘no’. The only thing Darla has shown a fear of is loud noises, which would startle anyone! She’ll flatten to the ground when nervous, but this is not a long-lasting response.
Darla could certainly keep up with longer walks/hikes but she doesn’t require any overwhelming amount of exercise. If another dog engages in play, she’ll happily frolic around and entertain! But napping is also something she enjoys so if the other pups are mellow, she’ll find a nice, squishy spot to rest. She even pulls her soft and squishy dog beds out to the sunny spots of the yard to sun bathe! Darla needs a home where she has another 4-legged sibling to keep her company. And if they aren’t very playful, then a couple of walks and human play time should do the trick! Since she is such a ‘go-with-the-flow’ gal, it makes it easy for her to fit into a plethora of homes, just not as an only dog 🙂
Since Darla is still a puppy, her bladder can’t hold as long as the adult dogs and she needs to be let out at puppy-length intervals. When she has to go potty, she’ll go to the back door or whine and paw at her crate door to tell you she needs to go out.
If you’re looking for a magical brindle marshmallow stuffed with love and sandwiched between some graham crackers of joy, Darla fits the mold! With a little more consistency in her housebreaking and crate training, she’ll be the perfect catch!
