learning crate training
Heeeeeeere’s Jack! Jack is a sweet lab mix born around November of 2016. He shouldn’t get much larger than 40lbs and sits at just over 35lbs right now. Jack has proven to be a very quiet and laid back pup who loves soaking up the love that family gives him.
Remember, puppies take some training and some can take longer than others. Right now, Jack is working diligently on his housebreaking skills. Sleeping through the night is not a problem at all and he keeps his crate clean. When Jack needs to be let out, he signals by pacing. He’s also still working on his crate training skills. As a young, attached, pup, Jack wants to be near his people, so being crated and separated from them is not his idea of a good time. When left alone in his crate, he will whine a bit (and it can be pretty dramatic) but he settles down once he realizes no one is home. He also doesn’t go in willingly, but again, puppies take time! With a little more TLC and consistency, he is just as capable as any other crate trained pup!
Jack has learned to respect cats and understands when they don’t want to play. He tends to be more playful toward them but has picked up on their cues; when they no longer wish to oblige, he backs off, understanding that they’re in charge 😉 Children are Jack’s absolute favorite friends and he just can’t get enough of them! He currently lives with three children and loves to romp around and even swim with them! He’s also great with other dogs. While he wants to play with the 9-year old and 3-yearld pups in the house, they are boring and only ever play every once in a while (and Jack respects their space). But he would be a great dog-park dog for his energy outlet!
Loud noises don’t seem to bother Mr. Jack but his confidence did take a little time to build. When first brought into his new foster home, he was very shy. Now that he feels more secure, he has let his guard down and warms up to people quickly. He took to his foster dad and foster siblings (the human type) pretty quick, and it took him a little longer to trust Foster Mom, but now loves absolutely everyone in the household! And even though he is as young as he is, he’s a pretty chill puppy. Sure, he gets the zoomies and he is very alert of his surroundings. Knowing where everyone is and what they’re doing is natural for him. But with kids to play with and light playing with dogs and cats (plus some walks during the day), Jack is go-with-the-flow type of guy.
If you have a fun-loving family with kids who want a 4-legged, furry companion, Jack is your man! This sweet pup still has some training wheels on but he is very committed to his humans and eager to please.
