Crate trained!

Learning housebreaking

Josie and the Pussycats have decided to take a detour and stay with ACR for a while!

Welcome Josie! Josie is a 6-month old Great Pyrenees x Golden Retriever mix. Currently she weighs about 30 pounds, and we think she’ll top out around 50 pounds.

Josie is working on her potty training skills. She sleeps through the night, keeps her crate clean when in it, but is still working on what her potty signal is. However, Josie is crate trained! She will go into her crate on command. As soon as Josie knows that it is mealtime, Josie will fly into her crate and show off her crate manners! Occasionally Josie may whine when she realizes that you are going to leave her, but a quick verbal reminder that you’ll be back and she’ll quiet right down. Foster Mom has told us that Josie is quickly learning different commands, and that Josie already knows “wait,” “sit,” and “kennel.”

As her band name suggests, Josie is great with cats! She currently lives with a couple of cats, and does great with them, Josie doesn’t chase them – just wants to hang out with them. She also is good with other dogs. Josie can be a little shy at first with new dogs – stage fright exists even off of the concert stage! Once Josie gets more familiar with the other dog, she will wrestle and play chase with them, or just go off and do her own thing while the other dogs are playing. We haven’t had the chance to see Josie around children yet, but due to her happy demeanor we think she would be great with them.

Josie also loves making friends with new humans! She is very confident with people, and loves to sit on your lap (and shoulders!) if you allow her to! Josie definitely loves to give affection, and will give you a good couple of smooches to let you know that she loves you! But, she will self-entertain by throwing some toys around if her human needs a break. Energy-wise, she currently just needs a few short walks and some good toys to play with to stay content. But, we think she’d make a great running partner or adventure-buddy if her human companion is into that!

Think you’re ready to take on our laid-back band member? Contact us today, and we’ll let you know if Josie thinks you’d make a great addition to her band!
