Luke – Adoption Pending!!!
born ~June 2017
Meet Luke! This little lad is just over 20lbs and we like to call him a Pocket Pitty. He’s not quite a year old and probably won’t be larger than the low 30’s when full grown. Luke is a confident little puppy, always leading the way for his brother Kylo.
Luke and Kylo have spent all of their lives together and get along great. While they do not have to be adopted as a pair, they need a second dog in their new homes. At the moment, Luke is co-kenneled with Kylo and he sleeps through the night and keeps his crate clean when Foster Dad is at work. When they’re playing in the house and need to go outside, Luke signals by sitting by the door or walking around with his tail tucked. As far as getting into the crate goes, it typically takes a treat to entice him to enter.
When Luke and Kylo were brought to the shelter, they were scared little puppies but Luke acted as Kylo’s protector. When new people approach, Luke watches through the corner of his eye to make sure everything is safe. Being as adventurous and bold as he is, Luke has no problem greeting new people or dogs. At first, he is a little yappy with new folks, but he warms up quickly. Structured introductions aren’t necessary and Luke would make for a great dog-park dog.
Sure, Luke’s confidence is pretty high, but loud noises still startle him and the vacuum is his enemy. But all that means is that he runs away from it when turned on 😊 Luke likes to play hard – like all puppies, he runs around, chews on toys and bones, passes out for a puppy nap, then starts again! He’s definitely got a feisty little “I want to play and I will make you play” attitude which is preciously adorable.
When spending time with his human, Luke nestles in the same spot on Foster Dad’s lap, curling up and snoring this cute little snore. By no means is he overly needy, but he definitely prefers to be around his people when they’re home and loves receiving affection. Taking treats from Foster Dad is still a work in progress as he has a hard time differentiating the treat from Dad’s fingers… and at meal time, you’d think this dog never gets fed with how fast he inhales his food! But all in all, he’s a puppy who is still learning and will surely get there soon.
If you’re looking for an adorably confident puppy and your current canine needs a playful friend, Luke is perfect. Puppies can be destructive when left alone and Luke is no different. So as long as you’re ready to get on board with his continued training and show him some TLC, Luke could be the perfect next fur-baby for you!
