Micah – Adopted!!!
born ~July 2016
Meet Micah! This gorgeous Great Pyrenees/Lab mix is just under 80lbs but she’s done growing. At about a year and a half, this gentle giant wants nothing more in life but to be loved. But to reinforce, she’s only a year and a half and she has lab in her. Young lab = energy 😊
Upon meeting new dogs and people, Micah struts her stuff, confident and ready to meet everyone. Unless they have a vacuum… that makes her nervous. Otherwise, she is a medium energy dog who needs mental stimulation to keep her mind busy. You see, Micah is a smart one, so in addition to physical exercise (which is also very critical!), it’s important she is challenged with fun doggy games or given a good sniff session when taken on walks. She absolutely loves running and exploring!
With a home full of dogs, cats, and kids, Micah has a lot going on! She wants to be friends with the cats, but they want nothing to do with her and she hasn’t picked up on their cues so well. Therefore, Micah would do best in a feline-free home. There are two children in Micah’s foster home who are 10 and 14 years old. Micah loves cuddling up with them and running around in the yard. With other dogs, she wants to do the same thing! The dog park is a great place to get some energy out as she does not need structured introductions and gets along with all pups. She is still learning to pick up on dogs’ cues and tends to want to play non-stop. And oddly enough, she likes playing with her foster siblings more than any of the other playmates at the dog park.
Micah sleeps through the night and keeps her kennel clean, but she does have accidents inside and is still learning her housebreaking. She hasn’t been with Athens Canine Rescue for very long, so with some more time and consistency, she’ll have it down! She is already crate trained and just needs a treat to coax her in (plus a little push to her tush!). She’s a big girl, but very sweet. And she has no idea what people food is – her doggy roommates hang out in the kitchen while Foster Mom cooks, but she would rather just hang out in the living room, listening to Christmas music!
If you’re looking for a lovely lady who struts her stuff and loves having a playful pack, Micah is perfect! This big beauty is ready for a family to spend the holidays with.
