“Dogs are not our whole life, but they make our lives whole.” – Roger Caras

Introducing Stu! This handsome boy is around a year old and weighs in at 25 pounds. He’s such a good boy, and he can’t wait to find someone to take him home with them forever!

Stu is a pretty easy pupper because he is already housebroken and crate-trained. Stu is able to peacefully snooze in his crate for a full night, and since he’s been with ACR, he hasn’t had any accidents in the house. He even knows to go to the door to let Foster Mom know that he’d like to go outside, but he’s able to hold his bladder for a full work day or night of sleep. When it’s time to go in the crate, he will go in on his own, but he’ll go in with a little pep in his step if there’s a peanut butter Kong waiting in there for him! He only takes a minute or two to settle in for a nap for the day. In addition to his crate-training and housebreaking, Stu is working on his tricks too! He’s already got “sit” and “leave it” down, but he’s working on more every day!

Stu currently lives with another dog and does well with her! He’s also met several other dogs of varying shapes and sizes, and he’s been happy with all of them. Stu can be a little more reserved around bigger dogs, but he warms up after just a few minutes of observing them from a distance.

He’s been around a few young children, and he did very well and happily accepted pets from them. He may prefer being in a household with older kids who know how to gently handle dogs but can also get down and rough house a little because Stu loves that! When he meets new people, Stu will immediately plop himself on the ground in the “down” position, but you can tell that he’s happy and excited because of how fast his tail wags as he waits for a greeting!  When Stu is chilling at home, one of his favorite positions to curl up is on the back of the couch behind  his chosen human’s head; he always likes to stay close!

Stu likes to exercise because he’s got some of that puppy energy that he’d like to use. In his foster home, he’s used to daily walks and playing with his siblings, but he is also starting to enjoy some lower-energy activities like playing with snuffle mats or cleaning out a treat-filled Kong. Stu LOVES his toys — so much so that he likes to snuggle up with some of his favorites (like his stuffed lobster) when he naps. He likes to show them off to anyone that will watch!

Stu is a little ball of happiness, and you just can’t help but smile when you see his tail wagging a mile a minute when he sees you walk in the door.
