“Bark softly and carry a big stick.” – Theodore Puppysevelt
Welcome Theodore! This junior president is 6 months old and 52 pounds, but isn’t done growing just yet. We think that he’ll weigh in around 70-80 pounds once full grown.
Theodore loves his crate and treats it like a second home. You’ll often find him in there for naps and independent toy-chew time, but he’ll also go in there on command if you ask! Foster Mom has updated us and told us that he no longer fusses at all when he is asked to go in there, just quickly settles down. He’s almost earned his potty-training badge, with his Foster Mom saying that he has been especially good about going potty outside lately, so we think that having a consistent potty schedule is the best way to help him become 100% potty trained.
As far as energy goes, Theodore has a lot. To live his best life, he needs a family who wants to go to the dog park often, or go on long walks or adventures with him. He loves going to the dog park – all dogs are considered friends to him! Cats are also friends for him, as his Foster Mom also told us that he does fine with confident feline siblings. Other ways that that his Foster Mom and friends have found to get some of his energy out is through training! So far he has mastered “sit,” ”stay,” a kennel command, recognizing his name and is currently working on “wait” where he has to wait for Foster Mom to give him the O-K to start eating at meal times. 😊 He is super eager-to-please and food-motivated, so we think he’d love to learn as many trick as his forever family is willing to train him!
Theodore is also great with kids – so having two-legged siblings is a plus for him! He’s hung out with kids as young as four years old, and did great at a recent adoption where he met tons of other kids! But if you or the kids are too busy to play with him for a moment, he will gladly entertain himself with his favorite toys or finding some water to splash around in. But once y’all are back and ready to give attention, be ready for some Theodore-cuddles!
There is one major thing about Theodore though – he LOVES water. Foster Mom reported that he’ll jump into an empty bathtub and wait for Foster Mom to turn it on so that he can play with it! So if you’re searching for an adventure dog to take to the lake, river, beach, waterfall, or to just splash in puddles with, Theodore is your guy!
Contact us today if you think you would be a great addition to Theodore’s life! He can’t wait to share his love of water and excitement for life with you! 😊
