Introducing Titan! Titan is a big ol’ boy weighing just under 75lbs. He’s not quite two years old yet but shouldn’t get any bigger. If you’re looking for the perfect family dog, you found him.
Titan may look familiar and that’s because his name used to be Jagger. At the beginning of 2017, he was initially pulled from the shelter and fostered through ACR. The poor guy had an embedded collar (be cautious before looking that up – photos are very graphic) – that’s when a dog has a collar on and the dog continues growing, but the collar is never loosened, usually because of neglect. Well, the dog’s skin starts to grow around the collar causing serious damage and pain to the animal. Thankfully, Titan is all better now and you’d never even know that happened to him with how loving he is. Since he’s got so much excessive skin on his neck (he is a hound dog, people!), you can hardly see the scar unless you’re looking. Titan was returned to ACR because he doesn’t do so well with livestock. So as long as you don’t live on a farm, you shouldn’t have any problems!
Like I said, Titan is the perfect family dog. When he sees children, he lights up! Playing with people that are closer to his size is the definition of fun! For as big as he is, he can be a bit of a scardy cat; when meeting new dogs he is a little unsure and might start drooling a bit, but it doesn’t take long before he’s running around, enjoying a good game of chase. And if he can’t catch the pup, then he lets out a nice big BAY howl to sound the alarm! Titan does great at dog parks so long as you don’t mind a little slobber and some singing.
Though Titan is still young, he has fabulous manners (except when you first come home… he just can’t contain his excitement!). He is 100% housebroken and does great in his crate if there is another animal in the home. He likes to guard his food (remember, he had an embedded collar and was pretty thin when he was found, so he probably hardly ever got food) so being fed in the crate is a must. But he knows that that’s where he eats! So he’ll trot right in as soon as you grab the food bowl! When it’s time to go for a walk, Titan will sit and lift his paws to your legs to help you put on his harness. He also knows the command “Place,” which helps a lot if you don’t appreciate drool on top of your dinner 😉
Titan has proven to bond with his humans very much so and wants to be able to serve a purpose. He is eager to please and a very well mannered dog. Ok, he forgets to keep all 4 on the floor when he gets excited but that’s because he loves giving (and receiving) hugs! Though he’s a little needy, it’s hard not to shower this cutie with attention. So if you’re looking for a cuddle-monster with an adorably droopy face and heart-warming eyes (and ears!), you just found him. Titan needs a fur-ever home with someone who can share as much love as he has for his humans.
