Welcome Trudy! This full-grown dachshund x pitbull mix weighs 22 pounds, and is about 2 years old!
Since Trudy is past her puppy years, she’s fully housebroken and crate trained! She’ll sleep in her crate at night and while Foster Mom is at work, not bothered by it at all. A treat tossed into the crate and a “kennel please,” maybe with a little guidance, is all Trudy needs to head into her kennel.
Miss Trudy recently went to our adoption event at the local farmer’s market, and did great around the kids there! Trudy can get super excited when she’s playing with kids (come on, they’re her size!!) so either older kids or children who are very comfortable around dogs would be best. But, Foster Mom is working on teaching Trudy how to play more gently so that she doesn’t spook small kiddos! Trudy also loves being around other small dogs. She can be nervous when meeting larger dogs, so a slow and low-key introduction helps everyone be buddies! But once she warms up to even the largest of dogs, she likes to romp, cuddle, and go on adventures together!
Trudy loves meeting new people, and does well going around town with her people. Some super-busy events (think highly-crowded breweries) can be a bit much for her, but a few belly rubs and reassurances from you will help her put on a brave face and explore the new situation with a smile. She’s a people’s-dog at heart, wanting to be near you the majority of the day, trying her best to become your shadow! Foster Mom reports when Trudy is feeling frisky, she begs for a little extra attention, so she can play and get those wiggles out! While on walks, she likes to having staring contests with the local cats and squirrels, and this prey drive means that Trudy will do best in a cat-free home. Trudy is a very flexible little dog, and is happy with a couple walks and basic playtime, but could also keep up if you wanted to go on a fun hike or other adventure together. She rides great in the car and likes to watch out the window to see where you’ll go together next! But after all is said and done, Trudy’s favorite past time really is just snuggling with her person, having a little snack, and catching up on her shows.
Overall, Trudy is a fun-sized, snuggle-loving pup searching for someone who loves giving attention as much as she loves receiving attention. If you think you’re the right fit for this belly-rub loving gal, contact us today!
