Introducing Zazu!  This young adult is a little shy but sweet and weighs about 27 pounds.  Pending a clean bill of health from his upcoming vet visit, Zazu will be ready to find a family to call his forever.

Zazu was a breeze to housetrain, in fact, he has never even had an accident in the house!  His crate training, on the other hand, is a work in progress.  Zazu likes to be with his foster mom, so much so that he would prefer not to go in his crate during the day, please (thought he goes in on command!).  He will protest a bit for about 5 minutes, but then he settles down and rests until his foster mom is no longer busy.  At night, Zazu is just an angel in his crate, settling in very quickly and keeping it clean through the night.  With time, patience, and encouragement, Zazu has really progressed with his crate training!

Zazu currently lives with other dog friends and seems to do well with them as long as they don’t invade his personal space too much.  He is mostly laid-back and indifferent towards them, showing much more interest in his human friends.  Zazu has also met some cat friends and was unfazed by their presence and mostly ignored them.  In terms of human friends, Zazu has really buddied up with his foster mom!  He loves being near her and can be a little demanding of her attention, though he can also take a hint and self-entertain if head scratches are not on the menu.  With strangers, slow introductions are definitely best to allow Zazu some time to warm up, though he doesn’t seem to waste much time so he can begin accepting all the head scratches.

Zazu is not exceedingly energetic but appreciates the mental stimulation and outlet of daily walks.  Walks of any length will probably suffice — Zazu just loves to be outside and smell all the smells!  Zazu has also impressed his foster mom with all the tricks in his repertoire — sit, down, paw, go to bed, and stay.  He has almost mastered “leave it” and “touch.”  He’s a smart guy and a quick learner, adding more tricks to his trick book by the day.  Zazu’s favorite activities include rolling over on his back and being goofy while requesting belly scratches, and he also enjoys snuggling up under blankets.  Zazu just needs someone with a little patience and understanding to allow him time to warm up and then you’ll have yourself a forever friend that is sweet and just aims to please.
