The following dogs are in need of a home. They are NOT part of the Athens Canine Rescue network of foster homes; however, in lieu of being able to help these dogs directly, Athens Canine Rescue is providing courtesy referrals to these dogs in need. Adopting one of these dogs is done through the owner or temporary foster of the particular dog. Please contact them directly.
Please note that Athens Canine Rescue cannot verify the information provided in these descriptions and has not evaluated these dogs. Furthermore, Athens Canine Rescue assumes no responsibility or liability for the dogs on this page.
Wampa is a 60lb, happy-go-lucky, calm but energetic husky mix (maybe chow, malamute, german shepherd). He is approximately 1 1/2 to 2 yrs and neutered. He was pulled from Animal control. He tested positive for heartworms, but was treated with complete recovery and no complications. Wampa is up-to-date on all vaccinations.
He is the most affectionate big dog ever. He's like having a giant teddy bear to cuddle. One of those "shadow" dogs that follows you everywhere around the house. Absolutely loves children. Not hyper like you would think a husky would be. Very content to sit around with you all day, and short walks are all he needs. Would do best with a single canine companion. He has been fostered for 8 months. There will be an adoption fee to help offset HW treatment cost. He will chase small creatures (cats, small dogs, squirrels, ect.) and does not like unfimilar dogs. Needs to be properly introduced if he is going to live with another dog.
