Joey Tribbiani: “If he doesn’t like you, this is all a moo point.”

Rachel Green: “A moo point?”

Joey Tribbiani: “Yeah. It’s like a cow’s opinion. It just doesn’t matter. It’s moo.”

From the TV Show, Friends

Meet Joey! This handsome guy is (officially) new to our program but has been hanging out with his ACR foster for a while. He was born around October 2021, so he’s just over a year old and weighs in at around 50 pounds.

Housebreaking, Crate-Training, and Commands

Joey is completely housetrained and even sits by the door to signal that he’s gotta go! Crate training, however, is still in the works. He doesn’t necessarily love being in his crate because he prefers getting to hang out with his people. While he’s still training, he does better in a dog proof room than in his crate but he’s adjusting over time.

Also… did we mention that this smart boy knows how to sit AND lay down?

Behavior around other Dogs, Cats, and Kids

Joey lives in a foster home with other dogs and he loves them! He hasn’t met a dog that he doesn’t enjoy bouncing around with and listens well to cues when other dogs aren’t necessarily in the mood to play. He will happily greet any other dog that he’s allowed to!

While Joey hasn’t lived directly with cats, he’s met them briefly at the shelter and was more fearful than anything with them.

Behavior around People

Here’s where things get a little complicated for our boy, Joey. He is an amazing dog! He absolutely loves women and has never met one that he hasn’t immediately loved.

Joey, however, is fearful of men. His current foster is a man and with time, he’s become Joey’s best friend! But he’s still a little hesitant with new male friends, and is a bit of a “scaredy cat” when it comes to them. We’re working to help Joey through this, but in the mean time, he just needs patience and understanding!

This guy loves to be around people. When he’s excited, he’ll want as much love as he can get from you (especially when you JUST get home!) but once everyone’s settled, he’s happy to just hang out in the general vicinity of the people he loves.

Exercise Needs

Joey is a young, energetic dog. He’d do well with a pup playmate to help get some of that energy out, but would also do just fine with some games of fetch and a long walk or two. He loves his squeaky balls and will entertain himself with it if no one else wants to play.
