Learning Crate Training!

Nearly Housebroken!

“‘Cause a little bit of summer is what the whole year is all about.”

John Mayer

Introducing Summer! This beautiful golden girl just weaned eight puppies from The Summertime Litter and is now well on her way to her own forever! She is around two years old and weighs in at about 40 pounds, making her a perfect little pocket lab(esque dog)!

Housebreaking, Crate-Training, and Commands

Summer is working on both crate and house training, but she’s super close!

She knows that she’s supposed to go potty outside, but doesn’t quite have the whole signaling and only going potty outside thing down just yet. But she’s working on it with her foster mom!

As far as crate training, it’s a little bit more of a learning curve currently. She needs to be pushed into the crate and will try to houdini out of it if she has the opportunity. But when it’s dark and everyone’s quiet, she’ll sleep through the night. She won’t let you forget that she’s in there though if she can hear you walking around!

Behavior around other Dogs, Cats, and Kids

Summer has lived with dogs before and currently lives in a foster home with another dog! She enjoys being around her dog playmate, but does let everyone know when it’s time for a break or a nap.

She’s also been around children before, and has done extremely well with them! She does jump though when greeting out of excitement and therefore could potentially knock over unsuspecting tiny humans.

Behavior around People

You have likely seldom met a dog that adores people as much as Summer does. If you’re looking for a shadow, she’s going to be your girl! She’s never met a stranger and anticipates that every human she meets is going to be her best friend (and ready to give her pets!). She does the sweetest little head bump when she cuddles you, letting you know that she appreciates your company. She doesn’t even need you to pet her all the time — she’s just happy to be next to you.

Exercise Needs

Summer, like most young dogs, is full of energy. She likes walks and would likely do well on longer ones when the weather is a bit cooler. Once her energy is out, she is happy to just laze around the house.

It’s summertime, and summer’s time (for a forever home). Contact us today!
